Golomt Bank signs a USD 50 million long-term financing agreement with FinDev Canada

Bangkok, Thailand, October 16, 2026 – Golomt Bank has signed a USD 50 million long-term financing agreement with FinDev Canada, Canada’s development finance institution, officially marking the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two organizations. This transaction represents FinDev Canada’s second investment in Mongolia and its first bilateral financing project in the country.

The funding aims to support Mongolia’s sustainable economic growth while improving access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises and accelerating the country’s green transition. Seventy percent of the facility will be allocated to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, which are a key driver of Mongolia’s economic growth and job creation. A dedicated portion of the funding will be directed toward improving access to finance for women entrepreneurs and women-led businesses, promoting more inclusive and resilient economic development.  The remaining 30 percent of the facility will be allocated to climate and nature finance, supporting businesses and projects that advance energy efficiency, renewable energy, resource-efficient production, and environmentally sustainable business practices.

Beyond diversifying Golomt Bank’s funding base, the financing will contribute to Mongolia’s long-term sustainable development ambitions and national greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, while generating measurable environmental and social impact and further advancing the Bank’s sustainable finance strategy. As of the first half of 2026, SME lending represented 28% of Golomt Bank’s total loan portfolio, and this financing will further strengthen the Bank’s capacity to expand its long-standing support for the sector.

We are delighted to establish this partnership with FinDev Canada through this facility, marking our first transaction together and an important milestone in building a long-term strategic relationship. Golomt Bank has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), including women-led businesses, through a combination of financial and non-financial solutions. This collaboration will further strengthen our ability to expand that support while increasing access to financing for climate mitigation and nature-focused projects, both of which are key priorities in our sustainable finance strategy and aligned with Mongolia’s long-term development objectives.
said A.Odonbaatar, Chief Executive Officer of Golomt Bank.
This transaction reinforces FinDev Canada’s commitment to deepening financial sector capacity across emerging markets in the Asia-Pacific, deepening Canada’s long-term economic engagement in the region and supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Golomt Bank’s strong presence across the corporate, export, and MSMEs segments in Mongolia also positions it well to increase access to climate and nature finance and gender-lens investments in this dynamic market.
Lori Kerr, CEO of FinDev Canada.
