Golomt Bank has entered into a US$64 million financing agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), marking a new milestone in their partnership to enhance access to finance for Mongolia’s business sector. This program will support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), focusing on women and young entrepreneurs (WMSMEs), while also promoting projects that improve energy efficiency, strengthen wastewater management, and advance sustainable agriculture.
Under the agreement, $40 million will be allocated to green financing, including at least $32 million for subprojects aligned with Mongolia’s Green Taxonomy and the National Adaptation Plan on Climate Change. These investments are expected to support businesses implementing environmentally sustainable practices and strengthening climate resilience. The remaining funds will be directed toward expanding access to finance for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The program places a strong emphasis on inclusivity, with no less than 50% of MSME sub-loans earmarked for women-owned or women-led businesses, including female sole proprietors, to enhance financial access and foster sustainable business growth.
Mr. Odonbaatar Amarzaya, Chief Executive Officer of Golomt Bank:
Golomt Bank has long supported women entrepreneurs and their skill development, while expanding access to green and concessional financing to address environmental challenges in Mongolia. The ADB funding is an important step forward, strengthening our efforts and enabling further growth in a green and inclusive economy.

Chandra Mohan Arora, Officer-in-Charge of ADB Mongolia Resident Mission:
This project underscores ADB’s commitment to supporting sustainable growth and financial inclusion in Mongolia. By partnering with Golomt Bank, we will expand the sustainable financing channels and help MSMEs, including women entrepreneurs, improve their productivity and income, thereby contributing to the country’s efforts to diversify its economy.
Golomt Bank offers a wide range of sustainable and green financing solutions for individuals and businesses seeking to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into their operations. In addition, the Bank continues to expand its portfolio of dedicated financial products designed to support women entrepreneurs and women-led businesses. Golomt Bank has also introduced a preferential green loan product aimed at encouraging environmentally friendly and energy-efficient household consumption. Through this product, residents of ger districts and peri-urban residential areas will gain access to flexible financing for the purchase of renewable and energy-efficient technologies, including solar power systems and air-source heat pumps, thereby enhancing financial inclusion while supporting the transition to a greener and more sustainable lifestyle.
