To expand surface water storage capacity of Ulaanbaatar city, Golomt Bank is funding the “Bumbat Reservoir Project”. On February 5, 2026, the Governor’s office of the Songinokhairhan District, the Water Agency of Mongolia, and Prestige Engineering LLC signed a “Memorandum of Understanding to commence the project”. Surface water makes up only 2% of Mongolia’s total water consumption, while groundwater makes up 98%. However, climate change and the melting of glaciers have resulted in an imbalanced ecosystem. Therefore, the “Bumbat Reservoir Project” aims to strengthen sustainable water management by protecting water resources and promoting rational use and reuse of water.
